I started dumping the buttons into the boxes according to color, including a box for clear buttons, silver and gold. I had a lot of black buttons so did one box for large black buttons and another for small black buttons.
They fit!
The only ones that didn't fit were my white buttons. I ended up putting them in another plastic box I had. I think it was for pencils or school supplies or something.
This was my old button storage. These spice jar turntables were at the dollar store and I sort of went crazy buying all I could find since a few years ago they were only about $5 as I recall.
Other uses I found for them were for jewelry findings, some pearls and chip beads...
Now to get back to stitching on my January block and avoid getting distracted, but I keep thinking of things I can put into the spice jars I just emptied.

Looks like a great way to store your buttons - but I'm afraid my collection takes up a lot more space and wouldn't fit. I had fourteen very large jars of buttons but am now down to *only* ten after having turfed a ton of them to the thrift store in my studio clean out last year. I have been on the receiving end of far too many other button collections (why can't I learn to say no?!!!). One day I will go through the ones I still have and hopefully whittle them down even more.
Shirlee, I'm not sure where all the buttons came from. I think they multiply in the dark. It sounds like Debbie/Magpie Mumblings wins with all her buttons. Thank you both for leaving a comment!

So sorry MA! I knew I was going to mix up you at Magpie Mumblings and Debbie at Mosaic Magpie one day. I thought you downsized a bunch when you moved a few years back? Like I said, they multiply when you aren't looking.
