Another Necklace Completed

One of my favorite necklaces to make is wire crochet, so I am always excited when I have been commissioned to create one. Here are some photos of the completed piece. I hope she likes it!

I have learned from experience to finish the ends off with cones. The wires wrapped on the ends can work themselves loose and start to poke the person wearing the necklace. I also like to, as an added bonus, add an extension (like this chain) on the end of my necklaces whenever possible so the length can be adjusted as needed to accommodate the neckline. I added a matching bead at the end of this extension chain to help give it a finished and professional look.

Wire Crochet 3-Strand Necklace

Below are photos of a commissioned wire crochet necklace I made last week. I used a mixture of bead colors and shapes. The wire is copper and goes nicely with the browns, ambers and ivory of the beads. The copper embossed cones at either end were a lucky find in a bead shop in London. The antique copper clasps were from our local Hobby Lobby. The necklace is a shorter version, maybe 16". The weight of the beads helps the shorter strands lay nicely.

The following are close-ups of the cones, clasps and beads...

Wire Crochet Jewelry

Something I've learned that goes quickly and is easy and fun to do is bead crochet. I have been experimenting with it to learn new looks that can be achieved using the wire crochet technique. On the right is one of my wire crochet necklaces using coral beads. The chip beads are from a recent trip to Colorado and the larger beads hanging at the bottom of the chain were purchased in China by a friend. I like the combo of the gold wire with the red beads.

The necklace and earring set shown left was made using purple glass chip beads of various shades and purple coated wire. The earrings were simply chip beads strung onto wire.

These were both accomplished using very basic crochet. I encourage you to try it. As I said, it can be completed in a very short time and the looks that can be achieved are limited only by your imagination.
