I must admit I have never used couching in embroidery and now I'm not quite sure why. I've used it on my bead embroidery BJP and have used it in papermaking. OK, although it is called couching in papermaking it is admittedly a much different technique~lol.
Of course you would expect there to be a tree of some sort and I didn't want to disappoint anyone. I used a metallic cord (that unravels easily~ugh) and secured it in place with metallic green thread. I then used a scrap piece of threaded sequins to fill in the space. In the bag of bargain thread I had posted about several weeks ago there was this group of floss in different colors. I am guessing it came from one of those kits in which the floss you need to complete a project is included. I liked all the colors and decided to twist it and "couch" it. I finished it off by adding some organza ribbon, couching it along its path. Sorry, no real color theme this week.

Oh I love this so much..I can just imagine a rainbow, with each color 'couched' like this, what an awesome technique! I've never seen this, I love learning these stitches...my mother loved to embroider and do all kinds of needle crafts...your blog reminds me of her, thanks for that. :)
I am enjoying seeing all the different stitches and how each of you represent them as you document the stitch. Blissful...
That is so neat! And, something like what you did with your heart would make an awesome wreath! You've given me a great idea, thanks! =)
Beautifukl couching.
I've been thinking about that ribbon. =) I've couched with beads before, but I think it would work better if I did something like this first, and then did or didn't add beads. Thanks!
I've seen 'bunches' of embroidery flosses like that at various thrift stores - never would have thought of doing this! Great idea.
