TAST - Buttonhole Wheel Cups

This week's stitch made creating a tree a bit tricky.  I was tempted to do another topiary, but instead decided to create this tree and use up some remaining threads to make it very colorful.

Here is my closeup.  For the sun...flower...whatever, I worked the detached buttonhole edging looser as I worked away from the center circle.  I am very pleased with the lacy look of it.  For the trunk I did two straight stitches and then a sort of buttonhole looping over both strands to give the trunk some bulk.

Fun stitch I will be using again in the future.  It is actually rather addictive.  See more details and links to how other stitchers have used this stitch on Sharon's blog.

I love the whimsy of your little tree...looks like it is made of gumdrops or something yummy. Blissful Stitching...

I was also surprised by the lacy look when the stitches are loose.
I thought you should do a topiary, but this tree could come from fairy tale.

this has worked well and the lacy effect is eye catching, did not think to do it loosely

Wow, you sure stepped up to the plate on this one! Very cute tree. I really like the palm tree also. Can you tell I'm a wee bit behind on blogging?

Oops, I hadn't noticed that all your TAST tags had trees! I went back, via your TAST label, to look at them. Amazing! I think you did just fine with this one. But, no law said this wheel has to be round, LOL! You could have made oval wheels, to use as leaves. :):)

The lacy look you have achieved with these loose loops is very attractive.
The tree as a whole is wonderful. well done, Connie.

Connie, I was looking at your CQJP and all I can say is wow! Your pieces have that lovely vintage postcard look. All are so beautiful, I could sit here all day staring at them and not get anything else done!

Thank you all for the nice comments on my trees. It helps me face the challenge of coming up with another tree each week. Pam, thank you so much for the comments on my CQJP. They are inspired by the vintage postcards as are
my paintings and everything else I do. It is an art form I really admire,
so you said exactly the right thing. I appreciate such a nice comment.

You all made my day.
