Super easy project! Found this old rusty bicycle wheel with a couple of missing spokes and other "issues" in my dad's shed. I instantly had an idea for it, so I brought it home, cleaned off the cob webs and spray painted it black.
Bought a wall clock kit at Hobby Lobby.
I put the two together and now have a fun wall clock!
It will work perfectly in my bicycle themed sun room. The best part is that it is large enough we can easily see it from the yard and can keep track of time. I know, a watch works for that too, but I don't always have that on.
The bad news is that the clock works didn't work, so I have to go exchange it :-( I think Murphy's Law follows me everywhere I go. I am still excited about the project and will continue to pat myself on the back for coming up with the idea ~ lol. What else could/would you do with an old wheel like this?

Connie, I think it is a wonderful idea. I have son in law that is a cyclist and I may have to see if I can scrounge up a wheel to make him a clock. I hope you don't mind the theft of your idea if I can find the parts.
What a clever idea! I never would have thought of anything so unique!
What a fabulous idea! Love it! Sorry it didn't work and you have to exchange the parts, but it looks fabulous on your wall!
Love your idea Connie. You have a rather unique clock now.
What a fun idea! It looks way more sensible than a bicycle blender. Love your pink block. Fabulous stitching, and a fun challenge to use all the TAST stitches!
I saw someone make a pot rack out of one once, but I think I like your clock better!
Great idea! I love how your mind works. :-)
Very clever, Connie! I've seen wheels used for growing ivies on, and for dividing an herb bed, but your idea lasts all year! Good one.
Great clever upcycle. I love how fabulous it looks on the wall. Murphy should be repealed...
You should be patting yourself on the back for this one - it's inspired! I posted a linkie to it on my blog too....would love to have one of these myself, but don't know where I could put it.
Great idea Connie! you are so clever to come up with this and I like the way it looks on your wall.
Thank you all for the super comments! It turns out the clock works did work and I didn't need to exchange it. Yay! The clock can be seen from almost anywhere in the back yard - another plus. I like some of your other ideas for bicycle wheels too so I may have to be on the lookout for more.
Cute clock, Connie!
This turned out SO great!! Love it!!
I've always wanted to buy one of these for my brother after seeing one on Etsy. Now I don't have to do that. Thanks to you, I know how to make one! I love it!
