Here is the block which was completed in June for my CQJP 2012 (see link on my sidebar). This block represents the month of June which makes many people think of weddings. In the upper right hand corner you will see a bit of bridal lace. The birthstone is pearl which is reflected throughout the block in the buttons and beading. I reconfigured a section of lace in the lower right corner to represent a church. I also have a photo of the church in Treynor, Iowa which was such a huge part of my life. My great grandfather who lived with his family in the home to the left was a charter member of this church, so it has been important for generations of my entire family in both happy and sad occasions...baptisms, confirmations, weddings, anniversaries, and funerals.
The rose is made of ivory ribbon which I dyed the colors of the Peace Rose. It reminds me of the roses I used to find tucked between pages in old books that had belonged to my parents and grandparents. Have you ever found any of those flowers hidden between the covers of books? I always think about what memories the flower held, so special that the person wanted to preserve them forever.
Below is the painting I did of my great grandparents home. Hopefully you can click on it to see a larger version.

Very pretty and romantic!
Your block is so beautiful and every detail is quintessentially June. The little lace church is very sweet. This is now an heirloom treasure to be enjoyed for many generations to come. Your painting is very peaceful and such a wonderful way to honor your grandparents. Blissful dear...
Such a sweet block... I think this is one of my favorites now.
Beautiful and I love that ribbon rose, how pretty!
Wow, Connie, your blocks are so consistently gorgeous from month to month! The rose is especially beautiful. Have you said anywhere what your final plan for these will be?
I appreciate so much all the nice comments I receive on my blog. You all inspire me and encourage me to try even more to make pretty things. Monica, I haven't decided for sure what I am going to do with my blocks. I am always open to ideas if anyone wants to share their thoughts.
Gorgeous! I love the journaling block idea. The rose is exquisite as is the whole block. Marianne Squire Maszer
Thanks so much Marianne.
Gorgeous! I look forward to every entry you make on the CQJP as they are all so stunning. I have a book on creating room dividers - when looking through it I was thinking that a series of CQ blocks would make for a beautiful partition and could be used on both sides. I can't wait until your series is done to see what you come up with.
Thanks Nicki. I never thought about a room divider. That would be worth considering. Hmmm. Who would have thought the hardest part would be what to do with the blocks ;-)
This is absolutely wonderful Connie. I LOVE it! I think all the personal elements and the pearl baby's breath are my faves. But the entire composition is just...well...wonderful! xo Susan
Very beautiful block - I love the rose and the memory you have to go along with it.

Susan, Mary Anne, Marjolein and Anita, thank you so much for the nice comments! They mean a lot to me.
Connie, your June memory piece is stunning! I love all the elements and the meaning of your art. And the painting of your great grandparents home is fabulous! It reminds me a bit of the way Tasha Tudor painted.
Beautiful!
Hugs,
Terri
