Projects for 2012

I'm not sure if I am getting in over my head for 2012 commitments, but it all sounds like such fun!

I have signed up for the CQJP (Crazy Quilt Journal Project) 2012. This will involve creating one quilt block per month, at least 36 square inches such as 6" x 6". The idea is to challenge yourself to learn something new. You don't turn anything in via snail mail, but photos of your blocks are to be submitted at specified times. Check the blog for details. You can click on the icon (as shown on this post) on my sidebar to visit the site and get the details.

Next, I have another link on my side bar you may have noticed which takes you to Stitchin Fingers of which I am a member. This site is the creation of Sharon B who is offering a TAST (Take A Stitch Tuesday) challenge. You can get information about TAST here. Although this isn't the first time this challenge has been offered, it is the first time I will be participating. Sharon will be posting a stitch every Tuesday on her pintangle blog. The challenge is to learn/practice the basic stitch and then try different variations of the stitch to see what you can come up with. It should be a great way to learn and become comfortable with some of the stitches used in embroidery and crazy quilting. Here is the link to her blog where you can find the details and the list of participants: http://www.pintangle.com/journal/2011/11/26/the-big-list-of-2012-tast-challengers.html

Finally, I have sent in my registration email for BJP (Beading Journal Project) 2012. This is an ongoing project for new or experienced beaders or those who want to learn beading. Participants are to use the same shape each month and try different bead colors or techniques to experiment, challenge yourself to learn new skills. There are no size requirements and I noticed that in past BJPs a couple even chose to do beaded buttons which is pretty small but so pretty. Even beaded beads could be fun. This isn't the first year for BJP, but this will be the first year I will be participating and I am pretty excited about it. Here is the link to get registered and join in on the fun: http://beadjournalproject4.blogspot.com/2011/11/registration-for-2012-bead-journal.html

I have a pretty good idea what direction I will go with each of the challenges, but may change my mind so I won't give it away yet. As I progress with each beginning in January I will be posting photos on the respective tabs at the top of my blog in case any of you want to see what I'm up to.

I hope you all have been having a good week and have a good weekend to look forward to. Here in the USA we celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday. I really overate and I'm paying for it today. My twin granddaughters spent the night so my daughter and oldest granddaughter could head to the stores early for Black Friday shopping bargains. I hate that kind of crowd and always plan to stay comfortably in my home on crazy shopping days like today. The twins and I did a little painting project which is drying right now. I will need to add a couple of things to finish them up and will then post some photos to share with you. Of course they involved glitter!

Hi Connie
I'll be there with you on all three challenges. For me, it will be good to focus on new challenges in an area to improve my skills and fulfill a long time desire to switch stitching directions a bit.
