Crazy Sunday Morning

Woke up around 6:00 a.m. this morning feeling pretty good. Looked in the mirror and the white part of my left eye was bright red. Apparently I broke a small blood vessel or something. OK, not the first time. I decided not to put my contacts in and wore my glasses instead. Walked down the stairs and there is water stains on the ceiling and a small bubble on the top part of the wall where water had collected under the drywall paper. I took a pin and put a couple of tiny holes in the bubble so the water could seep out and dry. I then patted the ceiling as dry as I could get it. Walked in to start my coffee and the cat had apparently had an unsettled stomach so I cleaned that up. Looked outside at the snow we had received overnight. It wasn't quite as bad as the forecasters had said it was supposed to be, but there was a pretty good accumulation. My husband has to work on Sundays, so we decided we better get the drive scooped off. The roof was pretty loaded down with snow as well, so we raked it off. My glasses kept fogging up. I took them off and put them in my pockets making sure they wouldn't fall out in the snow. We then continued raking the roof, hauled the ladder and rake to the back and did the same there. I'm not sure what the temp was, but it was three hours ago and the temp now is 1º F if that gives you a clue. It was cold. I stepped onto the porch to warm my feet a little when I noticed my glasses were no longer in my pocket. I searched the piles of snow around the house and couldn't find them anywhere. I guess in the spring I will be able to recover them although I'm not sure what condition they will be in by that time. Fortunately I do have a spare. My husband is now off to work and I am settled in working on my needlework. I have cancelled all plans I may have had for the remainder of the day! (lol) How was your day?

Oh Connie,
What a day! What caused the water on the ceiling? From all the snow on the roof? The glasses...that is a real loss, for they cost so much to replace. Maybe you could crazy quilt and eye patch to hide your eye! Ahoy! Mate!
Good thing stitching soothes the soul.

Murphy's Law was definitely in effect today for you. I agree, sit quietly all day long and just do simple things!

What an awful start to your day. But then, it can only go uphill, right? On the other hand, it might be just the time to buy a lottery ticket. Maybe when it turns, it will turn BIG. Stay warm, dry and safe! And show us what you’re stitching on! Hugs, Cathy

Oh my - that's what Alexander would say was a 'terrible, horrible, no-good, very-bad day' (if you're familiar with the poem by Judith Viorst). Hope it gets better!
