A Pair of Pears - How Can I Transform Them?

I was playing around with a couple of styro gold pears in my studio and wanted to share my creations with you. I've had these ideas running through my mind for days...weeks...OK, months. I happen to have a bloggy friend who, rumor has it, loves pears. I knew I had these and wanted to make something special for her with them.

The first one I added a plain brown wrapper with decoupage and hung it up to dry.

Next I tore up some paper with black printing on it. The paper happened to have bicycles on it. Another common interest of ours.

I dug into my little drawer of 'going to need these some day' stamps and inks.

I stamped a little 'for you' stamp on the bottom since it is a gift.

I strung a few black seed beads onto thin wire because the pear still needed something (and to me something is always beads!)

Yup! That's what it needed. Much better. Don't you agree? Oh, and I added just a tiny bit of glittery sheen.

Now for the second pear ...

I happened to have some 'Snowtex' in my studio waiting to get out, so I coated the pear with the texture medium and hung it up to dry thoroughly.

Wired and glued on a large pearlized marble. Kind of looks like a wire halo, doesn't it?

Yes, that was intentional. The gold leaves form the wings and a couple of dots with my marker helps the little angel see. Now she needs to hang around all night to get good and dry.

What's that? I tell you, you give an angel wings and eyes and they start bossing you around! She said she needed a necklace and a little sparkle, so... (I never refuse an angel her wishes!)

She seems quite pleased now.

Until she found out I expect her to bubble up and jump into a box with the other pear!

Yes, t-h-a-t pear, the biker one!

You're goin' to Colorado to a great home! She decided that won't be so bad.

I just hope they arrive safely.

I just saw your pears on Jan's blog. Just adorable. You did an amazing job and I'm so glad you've met her. She just seems like a sweet, sweet lady. Is there anything better than getting a homemade gift in the mail from a sweet friend? I think not.

Oooo What an Idea! I have a pack of green ones that sort of sparkly. I keep them in a basket on the floor. Every time I walk by it I ask myself "How long is that going to sit there?" Now I can try some ideas that you've shared and maybe do something with them. Thanks!
