Watercolor Painting

I finally got out my paints again. I've started a new series of paintings. I'm thinking of calling the series 'Keys to the Past'. Each will contain a key and maybe some hints about my family history. This one is the image of a railroad station in Wainfleet, England. We were there recently when I was trying to get information about my great grandfather who was born in a nearby town, Friskney. I absolutely fell in love with the quaint railroad stations of England that are still in use. We took a train to this area from London, where we stayed. The top image shown below is of course the key. Also is shown a postage stamp with a ship and the queen's silhouette in the corner. The date on the stamp is the date my great grandfather became a naturalized US citizen. The bottom close-up is a 'stamp' showing the town where my great grandfather was born and the date of his birth. I haven't decided what I will paint next, or when since I am now working forty hours a week.

I would love to visit England one day to see all the lovely historic architecture - it is on my 'to do' list :D

Thank you Val! And I highly recommend a trip to England. We went for our 40th anniversary and to do a little genealogy research while we were there. It is one of my favorite places I have been.

Thank you faraona for the compliment and for signing on as a follower! I went to your site but could not read it. Is there a way to translate it to English? The music was lovely!

Where abouts in England is this lovely place? My ancestors came from Cornwall and Somerset! Well, yet ANOTHER connection between us. Kismet?

Thanks, I am so glad you enjoyed the painting. Jan, it is in Wainfleet,in the Lincolnshire area, which is North of London quite a ways. If you look at the map it is on the opposite shore across from Liverpool.
