CQJP 2015 - Fabric Folding

I was doing pretty good with this challenge and then I seemed to get busy and then side-tracked.  I did finally complete my ninth block for CQJP 2015 with 3 to go.  I was sort of dreading working on this particular block as it is not at the top of my list of favorite colors and the combination of fabrics, colors and patterns was not appealing to me at all.  I purchased the book shown below and decided this would be a good opportunity to use it rather than put it on my shelf for 'some day'.  I'm guessing most of you probably know what I mean.  It seems to be a common characteristic among creative people.  I had the fabric in my stash.  I wanted something lighter than the block yet something that would coordinate.

It is a bit overcast today but I still managed to come pretty accurate with colors in the photo.  There is a shadow on the block but the colors on the bottom half of the block are pretty accurate and are the same fabrics used on the top that appear to be a bit darker.

Below is my reference book used.  There are other examples I want to try yet but stuck with three for my block.

Now I have to figure out what to do for the remaining blocks!  I have really enjoyed viewing the beautiful blocks and finished items created by others for CQJP 2015!  How many of you are going to take on the 2016 challenge?  I think I am going to opt out.  As you have probably noticed I am pretty involved in watercolor painting.  I still plan to continue my stitching because, well, I love it too but I just don't think I can keep up with this challenge (especially since I have 3 left to do for this year yet) and my paintings.  I can't wait to see all the new blocks though!

I love this block Connie (altho, like you, it isn't necessarily *my* colours). I really like those folded flowers! I haven't taken part in any of the year-long challenges - I have too many things on my plate already and am really trying to whittle down my to-do list at least a little bit.

what a good idea to use fabric folding on the block, it works so well. I have signed up for next year mind you I did for this year too but then did not do it! Must give it some thought as to a colour theme etc, thinking maybe will make all the blocks rather than doing random ones the same even thinking about hexies well thinking is as far as I have got

Thanks for the lovely comments. I think my word for the year should be 'non-commital' so I can finish up all (most) of my UFO's. Margaret, I look forward to your monthly blocks and look forward to what both of you accomplish in 2016! You both do such beautiful work. Happy New Year!
