TAST Week 2 - Buttonhole/Blanket Stitch Sampler

Week two of TAST (Take A Stitch Tuesday) is complete. This week's stitch was the Buttonhole Stitch which is also known as Blanket Stitch because it is often used on blanket edgings. Again, these tags are made of Aida cloth and are about 6" x 10". I have added seam binding at the bottom, well, because I have a lot of it and never use it otherwise ~ lol. I only used embroidery floss, two threads, on this sampler and 11º beads in a couple of areas. The first week I used a variety of different colors, but I've decided to begin experimenting with color combinations. Obviously for this one I used turquoise and a golden brown. This is one of my favorite color combinations. So far I am really enjoying taking the time to explore the possibilities of each stitch. I am certain there will be some weeks with little experimentation - especially when I don't like the stitch for the week. Over 500 stitchers are participating in TAST this year and it is fun to see what is being done by others. You can find the TAST 2012 link on my sidebar.

Yeah! It works ;)
You have made a lot of different things with the buttonhole stitch.
The wall and the shell shape next to it, are my favorites.

Love it! And what a nice larger size, too. This reminds me of samplers my mother used to work on. :)

Such a neat idea to do the TAST challenge on tags. Really like all the creative ways you've used with the buttonhole/blanket stitch, especially the butterfly!
