Colorado Vacation, Getting Acquainted and Garden Flowers

For the past 20 years or so my DH and I have made an annual summer trip to Summit County, Colorado. We were hooked the first year. The air is so crisp and clean and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. We have friends in and around the area we enjoy visiting as well. This year's trip was extra special because I met one of my bloggy friends for the first time. She lives near Breckenridge (OK, about an hour away) and we made arrangements to meet. Neither of us was sure how it all came about, but we have a lot in common, including riding bicycles.

Can you believe all the snow still in the mountains! Don't tell Jan I snuck the above photo from her blog. My DH had the camera so he could take photos of our granddaughter and grand niece, so I didn't have my own camera. Therefore, I have to resort to stealing! (forgive me Jan) We had so much fun and talked nonstop...I think we went into a quilt shop at one point, but we were so busy in conversation I'm not sure what they had. Jan is just the sweetest person and I felt like I had known her for years. I feel so lucky to know her, something that never would have happened had it not been for blogging. She is a very talented artist as well and has such a fun blog. We have decided we are going to try to make this a yearly event and also try to get our husbands together since they also seem to like the same things.

I'm back in Iowa now and getting ready to leave for another week. Colorado is now a memory. We are heading to Maine for a family reunion in a few days. I'll leave you with images of my flowers. They did quite well this year.

I was told these are called Beebaum. I'm not sure I even spelled that right.

My Hollyhocks did better this year than they had been, so I decided I better snap lots of photos of them...just in case.

I had rhubarb ready to pick and my tomato plants are just beginning to get blossoms! Yum!

Here are some more Hollyhock photos.

I was thrilled with the flowers outside my studio door! Hope you are all having a fantastic summer!

Your flowers surely are beautiful! Can't grow Hollyhocks here....Deer food! But the Beebalm (sp) is supposed to be resistant to those critters, so maybe I'll give it a try next year.

It WAS fun being with you in Breck! And no, I don't mind you 'stealing' my photo! I SHOULD have sent the photos to you right away! duh

Have a great trip to Maine. It's a very nice place, too....although NOT Summit County!

OH, I'm in the midst of reading magazines and finding some really interesting ideas! THANKS!

Hugs

I love your photos. Colorado is very beautiful. I was born and raised here. I am getting excited for Cross Country for Nick and our daughter Hannah;s honey plays football at Western State in Gunnison. If I could just get over Monarch pass and never come back from the mountain I would!
Enjoy! Anne
