I decided I better get back to my beading since October is nearly over and I hadn't worked on a new stitch for the month of October. That is exactly why I like posting my challenge on my blog - I have made a commitment and my blog and friends following my blog remind me I better stick to it. I bought a beading book at a garage sale and while looking through it I saw all the possibilities for the Chevron Chain stitch. You can alter it just by changing the bead size and number. Well, now that I am posting it for my monthly challenge I noticed I had done the same stitch as a strap back in February. Oops.
In my defense, I did actually do two new stitches in February, the Chevron Chain being one of them. (No wonder I caught on so quickly ~ lol) I am taking it one step further though. I didn't have quite enough seed beads to do additional rows as I had intended, so I went to my studio stash and found two different lengths of bugle beads that matched in color and some larger, maybe 3 or 4 mm beads that also picked up the colors. I began experimenting with the shorter bugles and the larger beads and really liked the results. This wasn't in the book and was just a result of experimenting with different bead combinations. I really like the way it finishes the edge, don't you. I am going to finish this and then see what happens when I add the longer bugles. This is fun!
I have also been doing some work on my crazy quilt block. I thought I would post a couple of photos to show what I have been doing with it. The stitched seam shown directly below is a blanket stitch done in different lengths and alternating from one side of the seam to the other in sets.
Two other seams are shown below. On the shortest seam I did three Lazy Daisy Stitch clusters. I like how they mimic the large golden flower center on the panel next to it. The longer seam is called the Cretan Stitch. I really like it because (1) it was easy and (2) it looks like such a traditional crazy quilt stitch.
I will be adding to these stitches later on, but I want to get some basics in place for now.

Your beading is wonderful - not something I'm inclined to try because I'm all thumbs with that sort of thing. I can sew them down, but don't ask me to make something like you've done. Your block is looking great . You asked for ideas - how about putting either a button or small piece of gold jewelry in the little white area in the middle of the lower flower? Or maybe bead it?
Great idea MA. The circle/dot is actually kind of a aqua blue, but I think putting something in the center would work out wonderfully. Thanks for the comments and the suggestion.

The beading is looking great and something like that could be added to a crazy quilt as well. I think it would be pretty in the brown square Where you put the Lazy Daisy clusters to continue the stem of the vine from the block above. Maybe stem stitch the vine and bring the end of it on to the brown square. The colors you have choosen are really pretty.

The beading is just amazing! I can't imagine the time, patience and talent it takes to do that design. It looks very complicated to me. Beading is one of those arts that is way "beyond me" but love to enjoy looking at (and owning).

Hi there. That beading is absolutely amazing. I dont have the nerves or patience for it. Its gorgeous. I am struggling with my own cq block. I have a row of beads..then I read I should do that last...I will post an update on mine next week. Hope you have a super nice weekend.
