My inspiration for the flowers were taken from the bridal bouquet held by my husband's grandmother. I have no way of knowing what colors her flowers were, but since the birthstone for October is Pink Tourmaline or Opal, I used pinks with a touch of lavender. The small four-petal flowers used came from a vintage hat.
Below are both blocks completed so far. They represent colors of September and October. The colors below are closer to accurate than the close-up of block 2 above. It is sometimes difficult to photograph certain colors accurately. You will also notice on the block at the top has an additional photo and a button has been added to the center of the pink blossom.
The September block to the left is the Eyberg farm house. The companion block contains images of many who lived in the home through several generations. The house no longer exists, but the farmland is still owned by the family. We would like to see future generations enjoy this land, but with inheritance taxes and the high price of farmland it may not be possible. Only time will tell.
