Another week, another stitch. This one was really new to me as most of them have been. I do think it is one I will use again and again since I really tend to like scallops for some reason...and, as you all know, beads. I think with more play I will find even more uses for this stitch, but my main goal this round of TAST is to learn how to do all these stitches that I am discovering thanks to the Take A Stitch Tuesday offerings by Sharon B at www.Pintangle.com. Sharon is also the person behind StitchinFingers where stitchers of all types can communicate, inspire/be inspired and share their knowledge. I have learned so much from the vast array of information shared on SF also. I don't know how she does all that she does, but I am so thankful she does!
And now, the moment you have all waited for...ha, ha...another tree. The instructions called for seed beads, but I didn't have any that would accommodate the larger needle I used for the Pearl Cotton thread, so I used larger beads from my stash. I found these pastel beads for my tree.
I used a shiner bead for my border. At the top of the image below I added an untreated base. The beads cover the smaller 'x' and additional stitching is added over the longer 'x' in the center (the looping stitch goes over the long 'x' only and not through the fabric. I love the little swags and the effect of variegated thread.
Below I tried making the long 'x' a bit longer to see what effect that would have. I will be playing some more with this stitch and as you can see in the first image, I have plenty of room left on my tag to attempt new approaches to the stitch.

I have also been trying to create/redesign some more jewelry in my other studio. This time of year is rough on my sinus' due to allergies. I was making some great progress yesterday and started sneezing and having to blow my nose so many times that I couldn't get anything accomplished, so I had to give it up. When I got back in the house I was fine. I had my window open back there, so there must be a lot of pollen in the air. I'll try again today.
Tomorrow, October 7, 2012 I will be taking part in the Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure in Omaha, NE. My neice had one of the very aggressive types of breast cancer and has now survived 5 years! Bless her heart. You can click the link if you would like to learn more or make a donation. Her team is 'Simply the Breast'. I know of at least 5 women who have had breast cancer. That is too many! This is such a worthy cause! Wish me luck as it is supposed to be a cold day.

Lovely little tree! Wonderful that you are participating in the walk tomorrow and for such a fabulous cause! Am so pleased to hear your niece has made the 5 year mark - a very good sign indeed!
I adore this little swag stitch. Your tree is adorable. Bless you and your niece for walking to help the cure. I have dear friends who fortunately have survived breast cancer. My other family and friends have not been so fortunate with cancers. I am praying for a cure. Healing Hugs...
You have given me an idea for Xmas cards, your tree in Xmas colours , may I use it?
Hope the weather keeps fine for the walk, cold can be coped with better than getting soaked, I also have lost friends to this sickening cancer.
I pray one day a cure will be found or even better an injection which will prevent anyone getting it in the first place.
