So many new stitches! When I started this project, I knew maybe 10 basic stitches such as buttonhole, lazy daisy, etc. It has been a joy learning so many new stitches including this one.
On the lower branches I had used the dark brown embroidery floss for the backstitch portion and the loops using the golden shade of pearl cotton for the loops. The line from the dark brown was so stark that I went back and did some backstitches with the yellow to break up the brown line. The top part of the tree is strictly Pekinese but with matching thread colors. I am very pleased with the texture created.
I will go back at a later date and do some more experimenting with this stitch as I have plenty of space to play on. I will definitely use this stitch on my crazy quilting! Have you noticed my trees are getting more realistic? What's up with that? ;-D

Your tree is amazingly realistic. These stitches you are learning are wonderful. I thought Pekinese was a type of dog...Who Knew!

Wow! I only know about 3 stitches myself, this one I have never heard of. It looks like you are doing it perfectly! What a gorgeous tree!
I have always wanted to embroider properly. I have done a few birds lately, but really just pretended I knew what I was doing! Lol!
