This was a fun stitch. It was especially fun doing another shape for my tree this week. This stitch is called the cable chain stitch. It does actually look a bit like a chain doesn't it.
As always, I love to hear from you. Have you ever used this stitch? I think I knew about five stitches before following along with TAST (Take A Stitch Tuesday) which is really broadening my understanding of embroidery. I love learning new things, don't you?

Your chain stitch and the previous buttonhole wheel stitch are wonderful. I am not stitching these but I am learning so much just following your stitching. I adore how you interpret the stitch and use it for something unrelated. Stitchlicious...
I think I did that stitch many years ago. Oh my its been awhile since I've done any hand stitching.
I love the color choices you used for your chain tree.

A weeping willow cable chain stitch tree! So inventive, Connie!
Like you I do not think I have used this stitch before allthough when I did my C & G we had to do loads of stitch samples which I am ashamed to say I have no longer got, smack on the hand it was silly to dispose of them but there was so much clutter some had to go, I also got rid of some of my technique samples which I knew I would never want to stitch again.
I've used this stitch before but not for a long time. As always, I'm impressed by your tree!
Beautiful! Love the way you've used two shades of thread to get this great effect.Well done Connie!
