TAST and SHISHA...again and CROCHET for Pink Saturday!

It is time for another tag for TAST.  This weeks stitch is Knotted Cretan Stitch.  This is a stitch I hadn't ever tried before.  After I got into it and had a few practice stitches behind me I rather enjoyed it.

Here is a close-up of my tree.  I thought I would surprise everyone and create a different shape from my normal.  So...SURPRISE!  I know, that was bad - groan.

While I had a little thicker thread, which by the way is Anchor Pearl Cotton size 5, I would attempt another Shisha.  I think this one turned out better.  A little more practice and I may even do a real project with real mirrors.  I'm not positive I did the stitching right, but I like it nonetheless.  In fact, I am really beginning to love these pearl cotton threads.

And then...

Here's my pink in honor of Pink Saturday.  Click HERE to see what other pink you can find!

I was going to check my emails this morning and the window was open for some crochet site.  My husband had been on the computer and must have accidentally clicked it and then left.  Anyway, it was fate...it must have been...right?  So, I looked through and noticed a tutorial for a pretty, lacy doily.  Long story, shortened version.  I had just bought a spool of crochet thread that happened to be the right size (10), had the right size crochet hook (3) and away I went.  I haven't crocheted for probably 40 years, and not much at that time either, and here is what I was able to do with the tutorial by following step-by-step.  It only takes chain, single crochet and double crochet.

I haven't stretched or starched it.  I still need to learn how to do that, but aside from that I don't think my first attempt is too bad - even if it isn't perfect.  Here is the link:

Enjoy!

Not a bad week huh?

Can't believe how fast you whipped off that doily, Connie! Have you seen the Queen Mary scarf pattern; it's a nice one.... Great job on that shisha; they're not easy.

Lovely tree!Your shisha is perfect :)
Love the variegated thread....
You could use spray starch and block/stretch the doily, make sure you put pins in each picot while blocking. This method has worked out for me, am sure it will for you too.....
